This is a warning to anyone considering living at lakeside in Charlottesville. They will do anything to get you to submit an application. One of their tactics is to make you hurry up and apply before you see the apartment. They will lie to make you hear what you want to hear. My experience was terrible! I called them to inquire about a specific unit number listed as available on their website. I asked if it is a first level, with no stairs, and with a lake view. To which I got a "Yes". I... confirmed multiple times, with my wife listening to the whole conversation while I had their representative on speaker. I put the application in, they charge me the $100. They waited until I showed up to check the unit, then they rum my credit. What did I see when I checked the unit? Glad you asked, its a unit that has a view of the weeds covering the lake, and has steps going up and down to it from the front and the back of the unit. Went back and let them know that this unit has nothing to do with what i was told and asked for my money back. I get the sorry we can't refund you, your credit check is running right now and there is no way to stop it and refund you. I kept asking them to check with "Corporate" letting them know that I was misled and rushed to apply before seeing the unit. They ignored me till I had to call them a couple of times request my money back. Then I get an email stating the same result: sorry we can't refund you. I then get compromise from them offering me a unit that really has no stairs, but more expensive for some reason with $50 off every month. Even after the discount, it was still a lot more expensive. Turns out, it was a unit that they didn't have much interest in, because of its high monthly rent.
I am posting this to warn people of Lakeside's unethical tactics. Do not pay for an application until you see the unit. Do not believe what they tell you about unit features. They are liars. You have been warned.

They attempted to charge us $1000 over the security deposit to replace a carpet "stained by pets" which we don't own. Spent weeks disputing their false claim to the point of seeking legal counsel. Rent with caution, there are plenty of nice places to live in the area without dealing with this.

Lakeside has an amazing office and maintenance staff. They are very friendly. The amenities are awesome, and the views are amazing. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for the perfect place to live in Charlottesville.

I've been living at Lakeside for two years now, and it's my favorite place I've ever lived. The management team keeps up with the property so well. They're always cleaning, mowing, fixing things. Any time I've had a maintenance request, people are there the same day to fix it. I love the gym, movie theater, pool -- and the lake! But the best part about it is how convenient it is to the downtown mall, where I work. It takes me less than 10 minutes to get downtown - less than 5 when there's no... traffic! And with the new Wegman's and Fifth Street Station going in practically next door, there will be plenty of shopping and dining options close by. I would recommend this place to anyone! :)

Nice apartment to live and good location. Leasing Management team handle smoothly when you move. Once you moved you may not see the same from them
